Lambs and new sheep!!

I know it has been awhile since I posted last. I thought I would give everybody an update on the sheep.

On Friday, September 23rd, 2011 we bought 2 light chocolate colored Katahdin (I believe they are Katahdins from what they look like) ewes from the Warren Livestock auction in Leach, OK. They are 2 beautiful HUGE ewes, with great conformation and nice big meaty butts and bodys. If you would like to see more pictures of them you can go here to my sheep blog - http://littlehillssheepranch.blogspot.com/2011/09/2-new-katahdin-ewes.html .

On Saturday, September 17th, 2011 Black Mesa lambed to a single black and white ram lamb. The sire to the lamb is one of our Painted Desert rams, named Gomez. If you would like to see more pictures and find our more about what went on at the birth then you can go here to find out - http://littlehillssheepranch.blogspot.com/2011/09/black-mesa-lambed-september-18-2011.html .

On Tuesday, September 20th, 2011 Sierra Blanca lambed to a single tri-colored ram lamb. The sire to the lamb is one of our Painted Desert rams, named Gomez and the dam is one of our Painted Desert ewes, named Sierra Blanca. If you would like to see more pictures and find our more about what went on at the birth then you can go here to find out - http://littlehillssheepranch.blogspot.com/2011/09/sierra-blanca-lambed-september-20-2011.html .

On Wednesday, September 21st, 2011 Emory lambed to a single beautiful tri or quad colored ewe lamb. The sire to the lamb is one of our Painted Desert rams, named Gomez and the dam is a Desert Sand ewe named Emory (who we no longer own now). If you would like to see more pictures and find our more about what went on at the birth then you can go here to find out - http://littlehillssheepranch.blogspot.com/2011/09/emory-lambed-september-21-2011.html .

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 Star Mountain lambed to a single tri-colored ewe lamb. The sire to the lamb is one of our Painted Desert rams, named Gomez and the dam is a Painted Desert ewe who I called Star Mountain (who we no longer own now). If you would like to see more pictures and find our more about what went on at the birth then you can go here to find out - http://littlehillssheepranch.blogspot.com/2011/10/star-mountain-lambed-october-2nd-2011.html .

Then on Friday, October 16th, 2011 we bought two really nice rams. One is a really nice, big black and white Katahdin/Dorper cross ram with great conformation and is very nicely built with a meaty body. His name is Diamond. He is coming up on 3 years old. The 2nd one is also a very nice, big red Katahdin ramling with excellent conformation and is nicely built with a very muscular body. I don't know his age, but he is very young still, he has no mane and his face still looks like a baby. I believe he is around 3 to 4 months old. We tried to breed him to one of our ewes and he is still to young to breed, which means he is real young because Katahdin rams usually try to breed at 4 to 6 months of age. His name is Big Salmon.

Here are some pictures of them -

Have a great week!!
